  The Perranporth Area


 

Perranporth town centrePerranporth can boast a history that dates back to the 5th Century when it is reputed that St. Piran, the patron saint of Cornish Tinners landed on its shores. Originally a fishing village, famed for its annual pilchard catch, Perranporth has, in more recent years, developed into a seaside resort with an old-fashioned feel and has become popular with families as a holiday destination.

 


 

The bustling village centre has a main street with a variety of stores selling everything from basic provisions to trendy surf wear and surf boards. The biggest attraction however for Perranporth is the beach. Stretching for approximately three miles, this wide flat sandy beach it is a hive of activity being popular for surfing, kite surfing, hang gliding, walking and the usual beach family days out. It is also a popular venue for surfing competitions and there is a surf club on the beach.

 


 

Surfing for everyoneOther activities to be found in the area are a challenging 18 hole golf course, a gliding club, several fishing lakes and a riding stables. Perranporth has all the usual amenities associated with a town of its size including primary school located near to the town centre. There is also a regular bus service to both Newquay and Truro. Just on the outskirts of Perranporth is Perran Combe a peaceful picturesque wooded valley with a wealth of detached character properties. Perranporth is approximately 15 minutes drive from the A30 main road via small villages.

Nearest Towns: Newquay (approx. 5 miles) and Truro (approx. 9 miles).
